sr20det compression numbers?

i was wondering is 165 psi across the board on a sr20det is a good number whats the number suppose to be at?

165 psi across the board is near the top of the spec. Good motor

^that's what has always confused me. Doesn't the FSM state the 156psi is supposed to be the max? I tried checking the FSM but keep getting the file is broken message and my copy of the FSM is on my Sandisk key at home.

It's ok to be a bit high IMO. Higher comp == more power. If the block is frsh and newly rebuilt, I'd expect higher numbers until things settled down.

To be honest, I have no clue what's been done to the block. It could be a rebuild project done with 9.1:1 C/R pistons and a slightly thicker headgasket to offset the raised C/R. It could just be a block with some great sealing piston rings and valve seats.

So long as he isn't way above the max or way below the min, there's no need to start waving the "oh sh1t" flag just yet.

oh. I didn't think about all that stuff bc I thought it was just a regular used SR. I have seen a few people with numbers around 160 on used SR's and I wondered why they were a bit high. I guess it could also just be one of those margin of error things and manufacturing variances.
