I have that same symptom... I can't figure it out. I think the oil is actually coming from the trans fill bolt on the side, but I've tried everything to get it to seal and still nothing..

I have a feeling you're probably leaking through the drain plug. My advice would be to pull the drain plug, and subsequently the fluid, and replace the plug with either teflon tape (yellow kind. the white kind will dissolve in oil) or silicon sealant on the plug threads. Sometimes, fluid leaks past the fill and drain plug threads and you have to add a little something to them to keep them from leaking.

And since it's a trans leak, I would be more pro-active about fixing it. It's a PITA to check the fluid level, and you'll be sorry if it gets too low and you don't notice.

If you have motor oil on your transmission it could be a couple things depending on where the oil is found. If the oil is dripping down the transmission from the top, it is most likely a valve cover gasket leaking. If the oil is showing where the transmission and motor meet, then it is most likely the rear main seal on the motor. Best way to find it is clean off all the old oil that has leaked out and check underneath every couple of days. If its a slow leak it doesn't need immediate attention, just keep up you fluid levels. If you clean it off and the next day you have spots on the driveway, better to fix it now.

well i was studyin the leak and it looks like a pretty bad leak from the top center of the transmission..its wet from there and down on the frame in a pretty wide stream..i'm gonna seal the plugs with that yellow teflon...hopefully that works i'll get back to you after that. any other suggestions??

Check the reverse gear sensor for leaking. A lot of times when they get old, the internal seal starts to leak and you can't stop it. I've had it happen. I would also consider checking the other sensors as well.
