the throwout bearing wont cause the car to grind gears unless its not fully depressing the clutch.
if you hit the gas and the revs rise but the car doesnt accelerate [slipping clutch] then the clutch is not holding, fully explaining the whole boost thing.
first off, adjust the clutch. i dont know the procedure, so your gonna have to find it.
there should be free play in the very top travel of the pedal. for instance, when the clutch is up, push on it with you hand/fingers. there should be at least an inch of travel that requires very little effort, after which the clutch should stiffen up.
if there is no free play at the top, the clutch is out of adjustment, and must be corrected before you destroy the throwout bearing.
if there is play, and the clutch slips when warm, then your in for a new clutch.
