at least I believe this is the problem I have to deal with. Do you guys see#3 and 4 on the intake side, the lobes are bone dry. Thankfully I noticed/ heard this as soon as It started happening (ticktickticktick!!! suppose the tick is the dry lifters!) and I pulled over, i'm not too sure how much damage has been inflicted to the head, I haven't removed the cams yet. Its still sitting just like that right now. I heard something from a friend that this is somewhat of a common problem with SR's. BTW, I recently rebuilt this engine, it has a few thousand miles on it. Any help is appreciated ! Thanks,

Daphanie

btw! My oil pan is not dented, it's perfect..!!!!

Hmm...Well, I would pull the oiler and try to blow some air through it. If they're clogged, it will be tough to blow air. Also, when you pull the oiler, double check the cam journals for wear as well. Just to make sure it's not an underlying pressure related problem to that side of the motor.

To unclog the oiler, I usually try to dunk it in a chemical cleaner like Cold Carb. You can also take some spray on carb cleaner and spray it down in the oiler. Just shield your eyes so you don't have splash back kill your vision. After you clean it out, run some tap water into the banjo fitting and see if you get an even flow out of all the holes. Once you're satisfied, dry it out and reinstall.

thanks a lot, I will definitely try that, I'm waiting for payday to come around so I can get it from a friends shop to my own garage. I may be able to pay in beer cause the guys there have a trailer and a truck, haha. And they sit around and drink beer and work on VW cars. I have been looking on google a little and I see a few brief mentions of the SR oiling rods clogging but I was hoping to find someone that had this same problem. As far as the lifters go... will I have to remove them, bleed and re-install?? I assume so cause things don't bleed themselves.

I would say go ahead and pull the lifters out. You're in the head, and removing cam cap bolts anyways. It's just a few more steps to get the HLAs out. If you can swing it, I would highly recommend hooking an oil pressure gauge up just to be on the safe side.

you're right bart, It was a big mistake for me not to have an oil pressure gauge in there.. I was intending on getting one but I don't think I'll procrastinate next time,

you don't have to tell me about procrastinating. I've been racked for cash cause of the motor build and I don't have gauge for my new motor yet I should be ordering one really soon though. Summit ftw

haha, yeah I have an oil temp, water temp and HAD a boost gauge all defi but the boost gauge disappeared dang it.. I should have never taken it out of the pod to see if it would fit in this a pillar pod.. i lost it dang replacement parts for those gauges are SO expensive.. considering something else cheaper that works via link controller...
