With respect, you probably shouldn't be thinking about this turbo if your plan is to use a mail order rom tune.

A gt30r is meant for some pretty serious power, which means you should automatically be thinking about standalone fuel management, which requires access to a dyno and someone who will properly tune the setup, cams and all. A basic mail order rom tune doesn't do much more than get your stock ECU to work with different injectors or a different maf as if they were the original equipment. Even though it'd be running, it'd basically still be on the stock tune (or close enough to it), which is fine for small turbo upgrades and ~300hp but not fine for a GT30R.

If you really feel 500hp is a realistic goal for you, then you should be seriously considering machine work and new pistons, too. If maybe you start to have second thoughts then at least know there are plenty of other better matched turbo setups out there for a street driven SR.

so you don't want to max out the turbo but in the future you do?

All standalone is expensive. Do some more research before you get in over your head.

Ive seen this too many times befor...

You will get NOWHERE on this fourm if you disrespect people.

If you have questions, great. but i would not suggest starting a thread until you have completely exhausted the search button.

Look into all the build threads on here and see what other people are using for similar setups and make a decision from there.

Tunning is the most important aspect of a high horsepower car w/o i all that money you spend is for nothing when you throw a rod or melt a piston.

lulz, the irony is horrific.

I will answer the question first, because I pity you. However you are posting like an immature idiot. Sorry to be blunt, but it is true. That is why you have already gotten 2 (and now 3) negative responses.

1) you cant afford 400 hp. sorry. it is going to cost WAY more than $1600 MORE than what you have listed there to even "finish" the upgrades. you are missing some vital components

2) yes you need standalone

3) the cheapest standalone is the Power FC, which will run at least $1000 (possibly ~900)

4) abbreviated list of stuff you "still need"

external wastegateStandaloneMAF or MAP sensor02 sensor (needed)A/F meter

expect about 2500 for those parts.

on this forum, "research" means EXACTLY 1 thing: searching for and reading current/old/archived posts.

you would have answered your question about 20 times, in ridiculous detail, if you had ACTUALLY searched a reasonable amount.

Why do you think you have gotten 2, and now 3 negative responses?

because you have started a CLASSIC, annoying, "n00b" thread.

No dont get a stand alone. You can use a SAFC for Apex-i. Thats all you need 35 psi of boost and SAFC you will get great knocking results!!! And why the hell is everyone callin tuning "tunning"? "Tunning" is not a word people.

Stand alone ECU is nice, but you could just as easily get into Nistune or calumsult costs way less. I run nistune realtime tuning .
