when the engine is first started, does it smoke right away or it starts smoking after it has warmed up a little bit?s13_drftone wrote:what could this be??????? car is blowing white smoke i was thinking that its my piston ring
it sounds like it's in your piston rings. Are you losing coolant at all?s13_drftone wrote:when it starts! it smoke?????
If your's doesn't smoke until coolant temp has rised up, it's most likely your turbo. I unbolted my exhaust manifold and left a little crack between the cylinder head and the manifold for exhaust to come out to see if the smoke was before or after the turbo. If you don't see any smoke coming out of the crack then it's definately the turbo.gore wrote:since there is already a thread for this, mine smokes too. It doesn't smoke on start up, it only starts after its warm and only when I'm sitting at a stop for like over a minute. I'm thinking its maybe a bad turbo? I'm goign to check my coolant and oil levels tomorrow see whats going on.

this is kinda unrelated, but my car blew smoke heavily at idle, but at WOT it was fine, turns out the ECU was fried and #2 injector was dumping to much fuel... causing it to smoke hardcore.spider_slayer wrote:i'll go with damaged water jacket.......i remember a while back though drifter4life's car was doing the white smoke thing and it stopped when he replaced his thermostat.
but his smoke is white. not blue.vi3tkool wrote:I would check the intake. Sometimes oil come accross from valve cover
