i've been having problems with the AC on my s13 with the 180sx type-x motor sence day one. lets say im driving normal and it gets hot.. i turn on the AC and as long as i have the clutch ingauged its all good, as soon as i take the clutch out, the rpm neddle will drop some times making the car idle at a very low rpm and some times stalling the car. if im parked the same problem would happen but it wont stall the car it will just make it idle rough. my friend has the silvia red top on his s13 and he has no problems what so ever....( i hate him soo much) what the hell is going on with my cars AC? i've looked every where, asked people and no one knows about the type-x AC wiring...is it the wiring on the computer harness? (one person said that the harness on the type-x is different from the normal sr) ....any ideas, anything will be great..

this engine is a 98 and it has less then 30k's on it. why would the compressor be bad.

thanks for the help in advance.

You need to check the wiring on the IACV. If that's not wired to the A/C circuit, then your idle will drop. I'm not sure of the wire colors, but if you can find a pinout, you can figure it out.

yes the idle will drop and sometimes stall with the AC on. The way factory control prevents this by bumping up the idle. I have yet to find a way to bump up the idle for my engine (S13 redtop with S14 AC components) so I just bumped up the idle every morning when I knew it was going to be hot. That worked pretty well. It takes like 1 min to adjust your idle... better than stalling in the middle of the road.
