if you even have to ask, get the honda.

the s2000 will always be what the 240 is not, a sports car.

however, if you plan on dumping 14K into a car, i would get the 240, because you can build one hell of a 240 almost from the ground up with 14 grand

If the damage on the s2k isnt too bad, I'd totally go for it.

Really depends whythe S2000 was salvaged. Also for most people SR 240sx really aren't the best daily drivers.

If I have that kind of money, why not save up a little more and get a used S200? I seen post online that they are going for 16 to 18k. But if you are into 240, like a lot of us out here, you will get hell of a 240sx with that kind of money. Wish I have half of your money and I will be a happy 240sx driver (sometimes I think my car goes slow cause I always see Mexican women with minivan pass me at the stop light. Maybe just that fact that I drive slow, but anyway...)

Ok, there's no reason whatsoever to buy a salvaged S2k.

With a little looking, $14k should buy you a clean-titled S2000. I've seen quite a few at that price.

Consequently, $14k will get you a REALLY nice, professsionally-swapped, freshly-repainted Kouki S14 with some tasty parts on it.

I think if you're going to drop $14k on a 240, your best bet is to get a well-sorted, already-swapped car rather than try to do it all yourself, as $14k won't get you very far if you're building the car.

What $14k will also buy, for shxts and giggles:-An unbelievably nice Z32TT-An MR-2 Spyder-A nice used WRX-Maybe a higher-mileage IS300-A *nice* Y33 Q45-A new xB (if you're a micro-van loving dork like me)

You could probably get a rb25 swapped s14 death machine for that much. There was(is?) a s14 w/ 450hp rb25 in the NICO classifieds for $10k. mmm beefy

The overall 240SX bias you're gonna here isn't the only reason most people are siding with the 240 in this case. The s2000 is not really a good street car, as the only place it shines is on the track and by track i mean autocross or something else with turns as the utter lack any bottom end power kills the launch at the drag strip. The problem with this is that the 240 can make one hell of a track car as well and the S2000 gets sodomized in its stock class (atleast from the events I have been at). For less than 14k you can have a beast powered by a stage 2 IAP kit that pretty much eats souls.

13k obo for a rare swap, and a nicely done S14.Plus, Nissan's have something Hondas almost never do; the ability to be really fast without rebuilding the engine every 6 months.

If it has a salvage title (which typically means it was totalled, which for a new-ish car typically means it was seriously ****ed up at some point), then there is probably going to be problems with drivability and reliability. Once a frame is bent its nearly impossible to get it precisly back to where it was, which means your suspension geometry is forever less than optimal. To me, the value of a salvage title car is worth the total sum you can make from selling all the parts minus the amount of time and effort it would take to part out the car (converted to dollars of course).

thx for the input guys.

just to clarify, if i do go through the 240 route, i would only be spending about half the amount and saving the rest. i just really like the s2k.

on the track, would you bet on a $7k s13 or an s2k?

my grandpa has an S2000. Its a really nice car, very fun to drive. It has alot of things I wish my 240 has, like air conditioning, lack of valve tap, etc. But, I think a car is a bad investment, no matter the car. Since you will be losing money anyway, I say stick with the 240, take your 7k and have fun learning about the car. Buy some stuff, and have fun.A salvage title is no good at any price, especially a price that is near what good used ones go for.

I would propbably go for the s2000 but the SR20det sounds tempting.

As much as I like s2000's, it just makes more sense to buy a 240 and throw some money in the bank to save. And as much as I love working on my car, and the pride that I had putting in my engine swap myself, it also makes more sense to buy a 240 with a swap. Most of us lose money when we dump all these parts into our cars and then try to sell them, so take advantage of it and you'll save money in the long run buying a swapped car.

the s2k is worthless as a street car. it was NEVER meant to be taken off of the track.

s2k = teh gayness, especailly if its salvaged

a cheap 240 + swap/turbo kit + minor goodies = teh hottness

there is really no point in buying the s2k over the 240 IMO, with the extra money left over you can have a 240 that will decimate the s2k all day every day

Didn't bother reading all of the responses so if I'm reiterating, so sue me.

S2000's are on another level than 240's. They handle better, they shift better, they feel better, much better build quality. They are a purpose-built (albeit underpowered, not like the 240 isn't though) sportscar.

If the car's rebuilt right, the only reason people don't want a salvage title car is because people don't want a slavage title car. It's about the resale, and it's an awful catch 22 kinda deal.

The S2000 is a better car, but if you're planning on modding it heavily I'd probly go with the 240.Buy whichever you like better, obviously.

id go with the s2000 if its feasable. yeah you can dump money into a 240, but you will nevvver get that money back. With an s2k, when you do decide to sell it, you will get alot better resale value than any 240. plus honda quality>nissan quality.
