The Avenir is a separate model from the Primera. It's very common in Europe. I had an Avenir turbo on my Sentra for a brief period and had a lot of fun with it. VEs are very fun as well from what I've read.
Aside from parts, you are going to have to figure out how to pass emissions testing. I don't know how Canada tests, so I can't be certain that it'll be an issue. One way would be to use a JWT-tuned B14 SE-R ECU and do some wire work to make it run your B15 (you'd lose cruise control, and possibly a few other minor things), the other would be to do a stand-alone fuel management system with a stock B15 2.0 ECU. Again, this depends on how your area works.
Other than that, make sure you have the right parts, a good exhaust, and some gauges (boost and oil pressure are highly recommended, oil temp and EGT are also common) and you'll be all set. I tend to suggest that people do suspension and/or brake upgrades to be able to match their car's capabilities all around, but it depends on what you want out of it.
