i'm wanting to build an engine for my frontier truck. money and time is not an issue. in fact i don't care if it takes me 3 years. i can't decide if i want to build a ka24det or sr20det. but my real question is does anyone know how close the sr20det out of a s14 and the newer sr20de out of a sentra are. the newer sentra has a roller cam style. could any of these parts interchange. point being i want at least 300+whp please don't knock me i'm a newbie but a nissan man for life. thanx

if your goal is 300 Whp stick with the sr20det. it will be a lot easier to upgrade and parts are readily available.the newer sr20de would have to be tuned greatly and putting a FWD motor into a RWD car take a lot more work. plues the DET is a lot more tried and true.

Wait what? Youre seriously reccomending the SR for Frontier Truck? Maybe you dont know enough about the KA.

I would seriously put the KA into the truck. The turck in Crew Cab and Extended cab weigh 1000 lbs more. Having an SR20 which produces less torque would be kind of crazy.

Browse over to KA-T.org or the KA24DE forum thread here.

The KA can make 300WHP very easily and even on an FMIC, Custom DP,Custom Exhaust, SAFC2(or Neo), Z32 MAF, some injectors, a cheap manifold and a SR T28.

Honestly, everything could probably be done for $2500 or less. An SR20 from a reputable dealer shipped and FMIC could come to 2500.

EDIT: Ha, Hell put in the VG33ER and upgrade the pulley and get an SAFC2 and some bigger injectors. :D Torque monster and its boosted.
