SR20DE rough start. cold blooded!

ok here's my dilema, when i start up my sentra se-r with the 2.0L SR20DE motor, it tends to fluctuate idol from 200 rpm to 1000 rpm and does so constantly untill the engine warms up. it's especially bad in cold starts. it stalls sometimes when i give it gas when cold. runs fine when it is at opperating temps.

Vac leak, intake air control valve, intake temp sensor, and coolant temp sensor could all be to blame. Look at them in that order. You could get the FSM from the link in my sig and check the voltage on those sensors to see if they're reading right. Any loss in gas mileage since the idle issue started? That would make the temp sensors more likely.

Also could be a MAF issue or o2 sensor.

Could it be the thermostat? i noticed that my thermostat seemed to read that it was warm before i even did any driving. could that cause the ECU to have false readings causing the eratic idol? thanks for the help.

That's what I meant by coolant temp sensor. Sorry for the terminology confusion.
