alright so i have been reading up on the SR swap and followed countless SR build threads and have been contemplating a blacktop swap.

But lately i have wondered about the non-turbo version that seems to get no backing but can be had for relatively cheap.

Now ive been a member for quite a while so i rarely ask questions that without searching so after finding zero information on the topic, could a dual weber or minuki carb setup work on the N/A SR20de.... i read up on AE86 owners doing this when they swap 4ags into non-GTS cars to eliminate the need to swap all the wiring over. I know this setup wouldnt be cheaper than a turbo application, im not about taking shortcuts or half-****ing stuff but im dead serious, did anyone see anyone attempt to do this?

i know you would need to make your own piping to fit webers since im sure no one would market this, but i think a N/A SR with head work, dual carbs and headers exaust would be pretty neat

I could see that being a problem myself. I'm pretty sure that the 4ag engine could use the distributors from the 4af engines so it was a easy swap, on an sr you would have to custom make something to work or do something like a mega squirt to control just the ignition.

It sounds like a fun project but I doubt that you would be able to match the power of a stock DET and you would probably be spending a lot more money and frustration on it.

I guess I'm just saying think of the functionality and investment (time, money and downtime) aside from the fact that it will be unique.

yes ignition is my biggest concern, im not looking for power similar to a det.

i have read a bit on fwd SRs running carb setups, but id have to see how their iginition is set up, since megasquirt would be some serious coin

thanks for the imput though

Actually mega squirt is pretty cheap, under $200 if your good with a soldering iron. That's why I mentioned it.
