hello i have a '93 sentra se-r with a sr20de and i believe the head gasket is cracked, there is exahst in the coolant. Im trying to decide if i want to rebuild it or put in a new sr20de engine or put in a sr20det. i have never swaped or re-built and engine before but i have a chilton repair manual so i think a re-build would be fairly easy. does any one have any tips or advice to give me??

Unless you are genuinely interested in doing a swap for performance reasons, the cost probably wouldn't be worth it.

That said, the swap to another SR is nearly as simple as rebuilding, so the added performance would be worth it if you're interested. Decent DETs can be had for under $1000.

It's all a matter of your interest level.

So im pretty much set on getting some boost under the hood. Im wondering if it would be easier to rebuild the DE and buy a turbo kit later or just buy a DET with everything and just swap motors? Are there any specific DET's that would swap directly becuase from what I've seen most DET's are set up for a rwd transmission.

Sometimes all the information is right in front of you or above in this case.
