Okay, so I have located my short. It is the black wire with the eyelet that attached to the positive battery terminal, they one that goes over the bolt for the lead connector. Can anybody tell me what this wire is for?

Thanks again.

Have you done an amp test to narrow down what curcuit is causing the draw? That's where id start.

A multimeter? That is the next step on the list

Yes. You will have to set your meter up with the leads on ”10 amp unfused” disconnect your negitive battery cable and install your meter in line (key off during all of this) start pulling fuses and relays one at a time and see which one drops your amps. An acceptable level is .04 or less.

Okay, thank you. I was also looking at newer harnesses or pre made harnesses. Would it be a good idea to go with a new harness instead of re-wire? Since I am no electrician, I would like to avoid wiring problems in the future with this engine!

For a lot of people, its worth the piece of mind alone. there is a guy on craigslist around here selling a brand new wiring specialty plug and play.

I was checking out the Wiring Specialties harness, they seem to have a very good reputation? The harness I got was less than satisfactory.. I think I will check with the multimeter but if it requires me having to tear my harness out and do extensive re-wiring I will order a new harness.

Well I have found my short. It is the wire that attaches directly to the positive battery lead. What does this wire exactly do?

There are 2 wires that goo straight to the positive. Those 2 wires power your entire car except the starter. Sounds like you skipped some steps.

I've followed the step by step FRsport wiring guide. The wire I am taking about is separate from the positive battery wire and alternator wires that are attached to it. It is a smaller gauge black wire with a eyelet loop that attaches to the bolt you use to tighter the terminal on. The car has power and turns over but has no spark.

I was talking about the testing procedures to find your short. Anyhow, there shouldnt be any black wire attached to the positive terminal. You have a picture?

I pulled all of my fuses and relays to no avail.. I figured it out more by chance with the multimeter when the wire became unattached and the meter dropped. Anyways, there wire is on both my KA and SR harness, so I will take a picture for you when I'm home.

This would be the wire in question.

Okay, I will try and trace it to my alternator tonight. Thanks man

Edit: A ground wire wouldn't be hooked to a positive source though? This was the same way on my KA battery lead as well..

From my experience.... It wasnt supposed to be there. Check out this pic for an idea. That wire is usually grounded to chassis right under the fuse box.

Well that could definitely be why it was trying to short.. but I know that my KA had a black wire going to the battery there and this was taped with the big battery wire. I will try and mount it to chassis and see what happens
