sr20 welded diff qt????? please help

i am buying an 240sx coupe 5spd with sr20detthe rear diff is welded together... on turns it skips the wheels and my buddy standing outside said you can here it click a lil

is that normal for a welded diff? it makes sense because both wheels move at the same time... im buying this car tomorrow please let me know!

You're in the wrong forum and yes, that's a welded diff. The clicking I'm not sure of though.

I hope you know those diffs are not daily driven friendly.

well if a mod could move this thread to the correct section it would be appreciated... i searched a lil but no luck on the noise its only on turns, and im at work so i gotta b carefull! ill probly throw a 1.5 in there soon though

One thing you have to consider is the fact that a welded diff puts alot of excess strain on the drivetrain. Thoes cv axles can only take so much abuse before they start to wear out. With a welded diff the car is basicly trying to tear itself apart, so one thing you may want to find out is how long the car has been like that.

If i where u, i would take it to a local suspension and have them check it out, its real fast, and they wont charge u a thing.
