Alright, theres a 80 coupe with an sr20det in it down the block from me for 3k....i have 6k to spend on a car....and i was wondering for 3k what would u guys suggest on putting in it?? It already has a FMIC and Full 3 in catback...but i believe thats it....idk bout electronics...so ill prolly be buying the Apexi AVCR but other than that, im open to suggestions...ill prolly go with 550cc injectors and z32 maf, but for that set up should i get a tuned ECU or SAFC?? I was thinkin on either a GT28 or a t3/t04e.....walbro pump for sure......basically all i want to know is if my setup sounds good....and if u guys had 3k to spend on the car what would u do......Im lookin for a 350-400 hp car.....im either goin this route, or thres a 92 coupe for 1200 that i would drop 5k into the motor and fully rebuild it...let me know what u guys think

Your going to have to fix some problems when buyinh anything used... thats just fact, so keep in mind that the budget should include spare parts/fixing stuff at first and the first few months after you buy it.

After that just do a few mods and see if you like the car. 400WHP is great, but if its from 5-7Krpm, it wont do you any good... so my advice would be to upgrade along a path that you deem fit. Play it by ear

Buy something first. Then you will know where you stand.

Buy the other Coupe. 1200 is *** cheap and if you **** up anything in an sr swap its your fault, where youre not trying to figure out someone elses ****up. besides, the 92 would be slightly easier to perform the swap in. the already swapped car may not have working power steering if its a '90. $3000 for a thorougly sorted out rust free SR swapped 240 with no problems at all sounds too good to be true.

Have you even ever driven a 240? Do you just want a cheap car you can go sideways in? Have you ever even felt 350hp before? Is this going to be your daily?

I dont know where your cash came from and i dont care but if its nearly all you got to your name, Take my advice and just get the other coupe and Dont be so hot to DROP FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS on a rebuilt motor for it. Especially if its something where you don't KNOW you could have used the money more wisely elsewhere. If youve got $12k and still live with your parents, i still wouldnt drop half of it on a hotrod.

Buy the other coupe, Make sure the KA is reliable, put some extra money in suspension, put the rest in savings, and stay in school.

That's what I wish i'd done.

Yes, i still live with my parents, and yes im in college....i have a full ride so i wont be needing to put that money away....i actually have more than 6k but thats is all i want to spend on a car....i was leanin on buyin the 92 hatch.....and puttin bout 5k in the motor....it already has some suspension....i can build the motor in my garage....i built my 93 turbo gsr in my garage....so i want to do that with the 240....ive driven a couple 240's before...i used to drive around my friends sr20 swaped hb....i dont want it to just get sideways...not lookin to drift it....i just want to have the ability to know that if some dumb ricer pulls up next to me and says something bout my car, i want to be able to blow him away....preferably by 10 car lengths....and the sr20 swap in that one hb down the block isnt perfect...it needs a new valve cover gasket, intercooler piping run and a few other stuff....sounds a little fishy to me

yea, even got caught a couple times on the highway.

However, the fact that someone else has gotten a speeding ticket doesn't justify a plan to spend $6000 on *publicly dangerous* street racing. im done.

but seriously, buy that 1200$ 240 if it looks even half clean. unless its an auto.

If u want a rice killer u dont need an sr, even tho i love them. Get the unswaped 240, fix existing problems on it, tho a turbo-fmic-full exaust, upgrade the fuel with pump and jectors, something to control all the air and fuel ie: piggy back unit or rom rune and get a vlsd, all cars should have lsds imo lol. There u go, rice killer within your bugget.

Even tho we can make great hp with 240's, its about the handling that makes these cars what they are. DONT neglect suspension. Do that in the begining and youll LOVE your car every time u start adding more power.

KADE with new rings/rod bearings/valve stem seals/timing kit/ehad gasket/header/2.5" exhaust/well sorted suspension/B&M = A LOT OF *RELIABLE* FUN.

happy KADE's are good enough to smoke a good amount of popular ricer cars anyway.
