this is kind of a two part question. I found an already swapped Sr20det 89 240sx over here in cali, with a bunch of extras. So iv decided to sell my car and buy this one, already talked to the owner. First part of my question is what should i sell my car at, im thinking $3900, its immaculate with low miles and lots of add ons, only thing is its auto.Second more technical part of the question is he said his tranny might have to be rebuilt or replaced because it grinds into second unless its a VERY low rpm. Hes selling the car at $4000, and if i bought it how much would it cost to rebuild an sr20det tranny?it has stock ic and a eclipse blowoff valve, gonna have to change that 2....

Most man. trans problems with grinding are the clutch not fully disengaging,( hyds or disc hanging up on splines) worn syncronizers or to much end play in the gear train. The last usually requires gear and or shaft replacements. Depending on the parts it could cost between $650 to $1200 depending on the damage or wear inside.

junyards have complete trannys for around 150-250 around here thats a cheap fix

ok i know this isn't an sr20 transmission question..but on a ka24...is there anyway to get just the synchros on order and pay a transmission guy ot install them?..i hate junkyard transmissions..they want you to install it within three days at one of thier shops around here...atleast the three junkyards near me...

are you serious around here you pay for the transmission an its yours you take it where you want it never heard of a yard wanting to make you install it at one of their shops..

also try looking on 240sx.org at the classifieds they have alot of oem parts for sale including trannys youll be able to find one cheap ....

i wouldnt hassle with tranny repair just relplace it its prob cheaper and for 650 -1200 i can just swap out my auto to a 5 speed which im doing here soon
