Post

I just recently did a sr20 swap into my s14
When I have the Tps connected it idles up and down when "idling" but I disconnect it and it idles smooth.

I hear it's just the Tps needs to be re adjusted.

Can anyone maybe give me any tips before I make it worse? It's the typical three pin connector.

Any advice would be great

THANKS

Yesir. Id check idle rpms and timing afterwords to make sure they are good. If not and you nee help I can run you through it but if that's the problem that is all you should have to do.

Sounds like your checking the power wire and not the signal wire. Also are you back probing?

Oh really? I misread the guide then hah, I could have swore it said check the power. So I just check the other one, and it should be .45v at re Tps and the ecu, is that correct?

I don't even know whats going on now, I think my Tps is just full on malfunctioning. When I loosen both of the little bolts to adjust it the voltage reading doesn't even change a little bit. Should I just stop wasting my time and buy a new Tps???

That depends on what your testing. there are three wires. One ground, (should have continuity to chassis) one power (should have about 5 v) and signal wire (should have between 0-1 volt when throttle is closed and should be adjusted to .35 to .55 .... I always set mine to .45 or whatever it takes for the ecu to read throttle closed (must have a consult to read closed)). If you're power and signal wires are showing the same voltage no matter what position thr tps is at than the tps is bad. Btw all these voltage tests have to be done with harness plugged in and wires backprobed.

Ok ok so I'll try it this time with the key on harness unplugged but what is backprobing?

You leave the harness plugged in to the tps. Poke a needle or paper clip into the back of the plug while plugged in. otherwise how would you get a reading from the tps if its not plugged in! Lol.

That's what I was confused about lol. It's that what backprobing is?
