If you use a FMIC, you have to torch a holes on both sides, 1 on the battery tray and one near the stock airbox...I just made mine biger in fact..No wielding...And if you've ever pulled an engine, the words "drop right in" are really exagerated. I put the motor and transmission in at the same time. It would have been a hella lot easier if I dropped in the motor and the reconnected the transmission..or at least it seems easier... silent drifter..Love the dave.. Good man.

i'm also considering doing this on my brand new (2 days old) 91 240. But is EVERYTHING just straight? I plan on ordering the sr20det from heavy throttle, and i'm sure the engine will swap in, as will the transmission. But my big question is, will heavy throttle supply the parts for the interior of the transmission? isn't there a trim piece and/or shift boot that the auto transmission didn't come with? I think those will be the only real fabrication...making and fitting the interior transmission trim pieces to mke it look "professional" or "finished". I appreciate any and all help.

The sr20det should mount in even with your ka mounts. If you get a clip you have everything you need for wiring, mounts etc...you can get clips for 1,600 from Yana performance. they guarentee their tested motors too. they are at [email protected]

trust me it is way easier to put the engine and transmission in together..... i got my transmission up, lowered in the engine, couldn't get em to go together and drop in the motor mounts at the same time.... ended up taking them both out and bolting them together on the ground.... S14PROJECT: now that it's installed go try and even get a finger or screwdriver on those top transmission bolts.... from under or over, very difficult....
