Is your starter hooked up? Does the motor turn by hand? Was the car an auto originally?

You didn't answer the question of if the motor turned by hand. Even the strongest starter can't start a car if the motor is seized up.

The same goes for making sure the clutch is disengaging properly.

Are you getting a click sound when you turn the key for the starter? It could be a bad starter selenoid, which you'll either have to track down a used starter, or have yours rebuilt.

An easy way to check the starter for operation is to unbolt it from the trans and have someone bump the key switch and see if the starter's gear pops out.

You're not giving us much to work off of. Do you have spark? Do you have fuel? Do you have compression?
