a friend of mine has a red top sr20 in his s13. has brand new fuel pump, new alternator, new battery, and the ecu is good. however the car runs like crap if it starts and he floors the gas it cuts off, if he slowly pushes in the gas it will stay running. also it drains the batt and we cant find out why. both the engine fuse and alt relay have been changed out but still kills batt. no lights are left on and he has no radio or really anything at all that could drain it as far as lights, ect. any ideas on what the problem could be ?

Parasitic drain test-Take negative battery cable off and connect an ammeter between the neg cable and the neg battery terminal.Wait 5 seconds or so and if the reading is over 25 - 50miliamps something is drawing currernt.

Have someone go to the fuse panel and unplug 1 fuse at a time. When the ammeter's reading drops that is the circuit causing your problem

justin3511 has the right idea as far as finding your your power problem.follow his direction and you should find the problem.

As far as the car not wanting to start, and dying when you give it gas. Check your MAF and use the ohm meter and chase the maf wires back to the ECU. i had the same problem. it turned out to be a loose female pin connection in the ECU harness plug. Not saying your problem location will be the same. but it is a good place to start. if you have another MAF or know some who does try it to make sure you have a good MAF.

hope that helps.
