I've seen lots of good dealers of the sr20 in the states, and i was wondering if Canada had some good shops with good reputations. I live in Alberta, so a place there would be preferable. Or in some of the northern states might be ok. Any suggestions?

I think there are a few places in Toronto .....

I know for sure there are some in Quebec (http://www.jspecauto.com) don't know about the quality that comes from there though...

If you find a good place, let me know too!!! I'm in Toronto!

I'm just outside Ottawa, in Ontario. I have full shop facilities and do swaps. I'm on my second SR swap, and have just completed a KA-T project. Ottawa is probably a little for from you though...

Yo Captain Nismo, I'm from edmonton too. Check out silentrage.net. They are a new company in calgary who are looking to expand their horizons. I'm good friends with the owners.

There's a place in Calgary called AUTODREAM. They have good prices on engines and excellent prices on swap services. I think they have 2 redtops in stock right now, one of them is my old redtop. (I recently swapped out a S13 Redtop for a newer S13 Blacktop). My old redtop was still VERY strong compression tested at 150 across. The owner of the shop have done numerous swaps and is very fair when it comes to prices. For example, he charged me 600 CDN for the labour, and down time is about 3 days. Let me if you are interested, I will forward you his contact number.

The S13 blacktop is pretty rare, cost around 3200 - 3500 CDN depending on availablity. The redtop can be had for around 3000 CDN. These motors are becoming increasing scarce. Tough to get a hold of one nowadays. I know the owner of AUTODREAM, he's done both swaps for me and did an excellent job both times. As far as I know, he's just finished a S14 Blacktop last week and has about a 3-4 car waiting list with engines already spoken for. The supply of engines is limited while it seems like the demand of it has increased dramatically. Now everybody and their dogs want to do the swap in Calgary... Let me know if you're interested, I'll put you in touch with him.

I am from kingston, ont, and there are no places here, but there is a place in montreal called engineland that can sell redtops for 2000 complete with harness, transmission, etc. i didnt get my sr from there, but i know a few people who have and they all have good thoughts about them.

The only motors I've seen from Engine land have had cut harnesses. One also had a seized turbo. When I caled them they said they had no motors with complete harnesses or ignitor chips. Maybe they've smatened up since then, that was Nov. So where did you get your clip?

Hey my friend just picked up and engine in Edmonton. She should be getting really soon. I think it could be today even. I'll ask her and find out where she got it.

You don't want to know, and I can't say their name, I don't want to bash them. They bought it from some place in Cali that they wouldn't tell me. It was all shady, but I don't blame the place that got me the engine. They replaced whatever was needed. So it turned out alright. All I can say is that they are located in Calgary. ;)

It's a crapshoot. You have to actually go there to buy one, or you'll get something terrible, and they're not really entirely sure of what they're selling.

The guy was selling GTi-R engines for the price of Bluebird engines (don't go looking for a deal, he knows better now!)

I got an engine that was good (although I had to swap out #3 rod bearing, which was on the verge of being spun), the harness was cut, the turbo was excellent. It had no ignitor chip (I used my SR20 chip, and I used my existing NX2000 harness). It was supposed to come with an ECU, but didn't. They didn't have any AWD chips, only a box of RWD SR20DET ECUs.

Other engines I looked at when at EngineLand had 3" of water down the sparkplug wells.

My engine was under $2K CDN delivered to my door, and they do cash deals.

Martin, I think I talked to you this summer regional racing at Shannonville? I crew for Armstrong Motorsports.

Still trying to figure out who the guy with the S13 is! (Phat from LSS maybe?) I'm also in Kingston.

James
