well i have a blacktop s13 and last friday i was running a 5.0 mustang. We ran a few times and on the 3rd pass the car started to bog between 2500-3000 rpms runs like a dead cylinder and really rich. Messed with the mafs and the ground and checked my vacuum lines nothing. I pulled my plugs and very nasty cleaned them up and noticed one of my coil packs was cracked on two places and i did the nail polish trick and i was about to see if that helped.

P.S. i beat the stang by a car and a half and he had a lot of mods.

i know your pain. i just moved my ford lightning MAF back further away from my t3/t4 turbo and now my car drives, but still have rich fuel problem. blows black smoke out exhaust and idles like crap cuz spark plugs keep flooding. my next step if i dont fix it this way is to relocate my MAF if i can. If i cant do any of that, then i will buy an apexi ecu and have it tuned with that. that should fix the problem. with all the upgrades i have, i have to run iridium/ngk's IV. they work great. but this problem is annoying cuz i didnt have anything run this much wrong with the gt2540r turbo. but with that one, the MAF was alot further away from the turbo then it is now.

sounds like you just answered your own question. sounds like a bad maf to me. swap it with a buddies, or find one in a junkyard or here on the boards. gas in the oil is a bad sign. could be your rings are on there way out.

Check MAF wiring

How far is MAF away from turbo

Change MAF (as said above) with a friend

Check CAS wiring, etc etc.

well i changed the mafs with one from the junk yard and it did not help so i took it back to see if they gave me a bad one and i think the gas was in the oil from it not starting over and drained into the oil that happens when it does not start on some cars i tried to start it for like 3 days strait

What MAF are you changing it with, and or have in the first place?

Sounds to me like your car is in limp mode more thananyhting, due to this MAF issue.

Gas in oil isn't going to prevent it from starting, that's for sure.

What are you running for management?

What injecotrs are you running?

NGK makes the best plugs out their for our cars.

Make a pressure tester out of PVC, and see what you can find.

did you fix it. unmetered air getting in or metered air getting out will make a big difference.

well i was running it was better still not great when the dang coupler blew off the hot pipe put it back on and alot of air was escaping tied all the way tight and still got air blowing by so i ordered a new coupler because the old one was a little big well i took the hot pipe off last night and i put it back on so thats y it blew off the first time but explanes the reason y it is getting a mafs signal to the ecu if air is leaking ands its reving to 4000 then no higher earler before the coupler blew off it would rev to 7000 in neutral
