I've been through the forums (reading-wise) quite a bit, so I don't need the "don't buy if it's less than $2000!" line.

What I'm looking for:

Red top conversion.

No turbo? Great! No exhaust manifold? No problem! No ECU. Big deal!

What I *DO* want:

-motor-Trans-wiring harness (if a sensor plug or two are cut off, no big deal, I just don't want it hacked at the main loom)-alternator-P/S (not a big deal though)-Prefferably decent compression, although, if the head or block needs to be done, no big deal. If the block is beat, so long as it's cheap and the crank isn't screwed, I'm still game (I'd prefer Crower/Ross anyway).-REASONABLY priced. Before I'd spend $2500 for a swap, I'd take the time to have a complete front clip shipped over from Japan.

If you guys know of someone selling one in the PA/NY/NJ/MD/DE area, please e-mail me at [email protected] or tell Jesse he's a tool and to give me a message. ;-)

Where are you located at?

I picked up the motor/trans. for $1000+ shipping ($340 shipping from CA to PA).

Compression tested and leakdown tested.

No harness, ECU, or MAF (have a VPC sitting here, so no need for a MAF anyway). The ECUs are all over Ebay, and the wiring harness was going to get hacked anyway to do a quick-release fitting on the firewall.

The pricing has gone up to $1380+ shipping, the page I got the price off of wasn't updated. When they called me back and said that the pricing was $1380, not $1000, i told them I wasn't interested and started to look elsewhere. About 20 minutes later, they called me back and told me they were going to honor the price (they updated the page as well).

They were pretty cool about the whole thing. It was an error, and they certainly didn't have to give it to me for $1000.

So far, I'm pretty happy. I'll let you know when I recieve the driveline how it turned out.

Well, I got the motor set in yesterday--which really surprised me, since I'm in PA and it came from CA. I figured at least 5 business days.

Everything looks good so far with the exception of the throttlebody. The actual arm that holds the cable has been taken off. I'm going to call them today and see if they have one there.

I was quite pleased with the place, especially for the price.

The only other thing that bothers me about the motor is the JUN sticker on the valvecover. Either:

1) JUN did some work on it (unlikely, since the motor is bone stock externally)

2) Someone just had JUN put exhaust and/or other minor exterior upgrades on it and beat the hell out of it.

or

3) There are ricers in Japan too.

I should be getting the motor home tonight (had to be shipped to my work address) and doing a compression test then.

My engine came with HKS stickers on the valve cover. It turned out that there was a bunch of play in the crank, and it looked like the previous owner wasn't a big fan of changing the oil. I'm sure you're already going to tear the motor down anyway, so it probably goes without saying to check the crank and bearings. I needed new bearings and thrust washers.

Yep the trans. was unbolted tonight to put the motor on a stand and check everything.

With all of this talk of stock-bottom-end SR20s though, I think if it's in good shape, I'll beat the piss out of it 1st with some toys I have sitting around the shop.

Plus, if it saves me time/money from a rebuild right now, that's fine, as I have a Talon and a GVR4 to finish before I go crazy with this thing.

For what it's worth, my bottom end was in alright shape. I could have just put everything back together and put it back into the car. I decided to replace the worn parts, just to reduce the likelyhood of having to take the entire engine out of the car again in the future.

Maybe one of these days the head will get exposed to install some cam shafts and gears, but that should be about it. (fingers crossed).

dont use the word 'shaft' around josh...it automatically causes a reaction in his brain that makes him drop his pants, bend over, and grab his ankles...it isnt pretty!
