I just got one.Luckily it doesnt have to be a daily driver if I dont want it to be ( have annother car).

but its a stock engine in other countries so unless you go crazy with the boost you should be fine.

I've been flogging the heck out of my motor for about 12,000 miles or so. I had some clutch problems, but that is because I had a misunderstanding about the break in parameters for my first clutch. Now that I have the kevlar clutch in there, I expect it to be going strong for a LONG time.

If you want to make an SR20 your daily driver, rebuild it. To drive something daily, you need reliability. My engine came out of a car that is over 10 years old. It's likely that yours motor will be 5-10 years old as well. In Japan, the S13/S14's are toys to be wrecked on the weekend while burning large amounts of rubber, and amazing your friends.

The motor itself at stock boost is more than enough to get you around town. With just a good open exhaust and an intake you'll find yourself with quick spool, and enough power to break freeway speed limits in 3rd gear.

I've put well over 15,000 on my motor so far. This includes the occasional flog, and autocross once a month. no problems yet

Just remember the more you ***** with it and the farther from stock it gets, the more unreliable it will become. THats just the nature of these things. But if you leave it nearly stock, replace some wear parts (clutch, filters, maybe the timing chain) then there is no reason it wont be as reliabel as when it was new.Do a compression check to make sure the internals are working well and the head gasket is in good shape.By the way, I have driven probably 200 miles on mine since rebuilding it and it is running great.

I drove it from Jersey to Texas without any problemsother than that the only problems I had was my starter going out and fixing the ****ty install from whoever had the car before me

i have about 700 miles on it. having a few stutter problems and weird blow off. I took my time in my install to make sure everything was put in correctly. it ran awesome before these problems creeped up on me. it's a minor problem so no biggie. I like messing with the sr a lot so it's not a problem for me... but if you freak out about fixing little stuff, you might as well just get a new car. definitely expect little problems to occur because these are USED motors. i got lucky and a got awesome comp results:160160158161

S13 black, 2 years, beating it up everyday, racing everyday, only problems after serious mods, tranmission 2nd gear breaks everytime, the motor will not die.

I just got my S13 Black Top working 2 weeks ago havent had any problems yet , i've probally done like 800 miles in those two weeks,. What i plan on doing when i get a new turbo is only rasing the boost when i plan on racing/autoxing other wise im gonna keep the boost low. Of course down the road a massive rebuild.
