okay so i got a front clip with an sr20 black top now that its in we started it up.... everyone at the shop was really shocked/supprised... we opened the throttle a little bit and it was already at 5,000 rpms... they said it was insanely powerful and sounds well over 300 HP... is that normal? as far as i know... it is stock except blitz BOV, Apexi Intake, RS*R 80mm Downpipe.

Ugh.

"Sounds" powerful?

Why would anyone be "shocked / surprised"?

Stock SR's aren't pushovers but not nearly enough to raise excitement out of any performance shop.

If anything it would decrease the condition of the turbo to turn up the boost. Most people don't know that although the SR is *supposed* to only boost seven PSI they almost always over or under boost. It is probably boosting 10-11 PSI.

Pull the transmission and see what flywheel it has. You might be surprised.

I believe it wasnt actually on a functioning vehicle. Sounds like they started up the motorset.

Well, did you drive it?

If it revved to 5K without load, that has nothing to do with the turbo, it probably wasn't even building boost.

Sounds like the throttle plate was open a bit - doesn't take much.

^ +1 Without load the SR has to be revved almost to 6k IIRC to even get the slightest pressure build.
