Post

Sorry to bother you guys but it's getting a little crazy. Long story short, after getting stationed in Hawaii I made the mistake of buying a 40 with an sr already in it then doing it myself like I should have. I've done two sr swaps myself so I thought some one else's work would be up to par. Wrong. I drove home this missle coupe on 3 cylinders thinking it was just the coil pack, back firing and bogging about 20 miles.... Coil pack? Wrong. Bought a new one and slapped it in. Didn't work. I changed the spark plugs, noted that number four plug was covered in fuel. Changed out the ecu with a e5 instead of the 62, nope, just ran worse... and lean. Changed the ignitor. Still no dice. Timing on point and and CAS dialed in. I'm kind of at a loss. I've got a multimeter but i haven't checked for continuity yet, mainly because I'm not sure what to look at. I checked the pins on the ecu and harness and everything has contact. I bought a whole new harness and i'm thinking about rewiring the whole motor, but i'm about to get redeployed so I'm really hoping it's not that because I want to spend time with my family. Any ideas will help, thank you guys!

Have you replaced the wire or been able to confirm that the 4th cylinder does have spark?

This may be beyond my expertise, but make a post here with a link to this thread

and Papasmurf should have some ideas for you.

There might be a bad wire going to the coil pack. I'd check continuity on the wires.

put a spark plug in the coil and make sure your getting spark, if there is spark then you have compression issue, if there is no spark then you have wiring issue, you should have battery voltage on one of the wires to the coil.

Do a compression test. my cylinder 4 went out due to broken rocker arms ;[ replaced them and cylinder was running fine.
