ok i may be getting ahead of myself.... but i just gotta know. i have a 90 s13 hatch and of course i wanna swap an SR into it. but i talked to a guy that 'says' he knows a guy that swapped an RB26 into his 91 hatch! at first i wasnt sure what to think. 'didnt know that engine would fit in that car' i says to him. he explains a simple little procedure that 'allows' it to be bolted in, then a few mods later its runnin like a dream. anyone know of this insanity?? -JAG

sure it can be done. I decided that i didn't want to go that route a long time ago and therefore i haven't been keeping up much on how to stick an rb into our cars. I'm sure someone around here knows how.

ANYTHING is possible is you have enough $$$$.. just see what you can afford and do it... SR is pretty basic and simple swap... as far as swaps go..

If you want more power, and want to be differetn get the RB20... I am sure the RB25 has been done, so i suppose you could do the RB26 as well.. Its just gonna cost.

John, I saw pics somewhere (I think it was FA) of a guy that had an RB26 in his S13 (or it might have been an S14) Either way, it took lots of custom fabbed stuff cuz that engine is frikin big. You can do it, but I think it would cost like at least 3x the amount you would spend on an SR swap.

Yeah, I have heard of an RB26 into a S13 or S14, but you gotaa pay for the engine, transmission, and drivetrain. All of the custom cutting and welding and then the hardest part would probabaly be the wiring and such. From what i have seen, its about a 16000 dollar swap. I am not sre how much, but damm.....that swap would be a b#### to do. The coolness factor and uniqueness would skyrocket at shows and different events. You would be known to many.

eh, nto as hard as you think ladies...

S14, the r33 crossmember bolts right in, which allows the motor be bolted directly in, then theres wiring and the other basic crap that doesnt quite line up, fab some lines, reroute the steering, make sure you have wide tires and thats all folks.

s13, r32 crossmember botls up, some thing

A31 is the best bet tho as the skyline crossmembers tend to sit the engine kind of high int he engine bay and can interfere with the hood.

Unstable hybrids specializes in SR/KA-T/RB swaps into 240's. I like keeping up with what they do, as they are relatively close to me.

Check em out http://www.unstable-hybrids.com

An RB25DET installed is right around 10k(lower than i thought, I was thinking about the same as BB Turbo, 15k or so).

Is Unstable all that good? I'm not too far from them (an hour or so) and if I did a swap it would probably be with them, at least the labor...

We just got an RB26DETT from the R32 for our project S13.5 , I'll post any helpful information we can after the swap is done, most likely we will take it to Mc Kinneymotorsports in San Diego for the installation.

you swap happy bastards should get a real 240, a 240Z. there are at least two in US RB26DETT swaps, some RB25DET and RB20DET swaps and you can even put in your precious SR20, done for lighter weight, but ridiculed because it is only a four cylinder. and cars from the early 70's aren't smogged in most states, so emissions wouldn't matter.

Yeah actually the engine was intended to go in the late model 240Z but the owner of the shop changed his mind, and we bought the engine.
