I just bought a 1990 240sx SE and it has the stock motor in it but im planning on doing a swap. Some people say I should go with a SR20 and some people say a KA24. Please let me know what you think. I'm personally looking for more torque than anything. Thanks.

if tourque is all you care about you might just wanna stick with the KA

buit with the SR you get better milege better wieght disturbution sr20 is lots lighter then ka and you can totally feel the better handling with the sr and to get lots of power you gona have to turbo the KA and of course get pistons to push any kind of boost but with the sr upgrading is much easier

I prefer the KA and just rebuild the internals then boost.

But...the SR swap has always crossed my mind. Swapping to an sr20det is an easier way of getting more power without dealing with the rebuild then boost method with the KA.

It's 50/50. Depends on your preferences I guess.

if u want real torque ur looking in the wrong places... 4 cylenders arent gonna give u any torque unless ur talking about a 4 cyl diesel turbo. if u have the money throw in an ls1 and t56 with the daft innovations swap kit. you get 350rwhp/350rwtq bone stock and if u swap a cam, heads, intake, u can get 450rwhp+ easily on pump gas. if ur looking for a cheap and easy way to get hp then go ka24de-t on stock internals with low psi, alltho its a cheap and easy way to 250+rwhp its a timebomb waiting to blow up unless u forge the internals and port the head. goodluck with whatever u do. dont listen to me if u dont want to, im known as a troll around here but i speak the honest truth. there is no replacement for displacement!!!

Thanks for the tips. Do you know what kind of gas mileage the SR20 gets?

Look at the numbers 20 is bigger then 24 you do the math j/k

It really depends on you but i think the SR would be better depending on the condition on your KA24 now

As far as mileage goes, Both my KA's get 28-30 mpg and my sr is around 22mpg. For quick power I would go with the SR swap. Its just easier IMO.

i used an sr in my project.....i missed 4th and hit 2nd in a drag race.......the rear end jumped up and the tack spun around and pointed at the floor, almost.....the motor held and ran great after that untill i wrecked that chassis 5 months later.....i also had no trouble getting 20+ mpg....the sr seems to be a motor nissan intended for use in sporty cars only, so it can take abuse and mods.....i like the coil on plug ignition too.
