sr20 or ka

I craked the head on my 89 240sx so I had to get another motor( it had about 178k on it alredy) so I had my machanice put a new one in for me . He told me he could get my the "japanese" motor for 850 dollers plus install. I thought he was getting me the sr20det but I dont see a turbo also he used my same throttle body. I really cant tell what motor is in it if some one knows a way for me to find out that would be great. Thx

my ghuess would be an n/a sr20 from a sentra se-r or g20

most uneducated mechanics will call the KA a jdm engine just because the 240sx is considered an import.

get pics. my bet is on it being another KA.

Same TB and no turbo? Sounds like a KA to me...

Heh... you probably should have specified which motor you were getting exactly before you allowed him to put a motor in it..

the pics are not present. If you paid $850 for a used KA, im going to vomit, then eat my own vomit. You say that you dont see a turbo. Do you know what one looks like and where on the engine it would be located?

Im at work right now so Ill get some pics up by tonight. Im only 17 so I didnt want to ask the guy infront of my dad since he wouldent really like to know about me drifting or even speeding in the car

Yo, dude post some pics of your engine. we all will let you know ok. but 850 for sr i dont think you can get one for that cheap so i considering that it might be an KA24de, KA24e, or sr20de.

It cant be a sr20de, cause they didnt make a rear wheel sr in the states, and for the price that he's paying hes not getting anything other than a usdm engine.

Yep, thats a KA24E. You my friend just got ripped off. $850 for a KA24E is NOT a good deal. How much was labor?

The total cam out to about 1500 for every thing but he told me it should have between 30and40k on the motor

I guess thats not too horrible, but it would have been nice if you did some research and went ahead and got a DE instead of an E
