i purchased a '87 300ZX Turbo o2 sensor according to a sr20det part list and it happens that the plug is different.. can i just change the plugs??? or should i return it and buy a different one???

yes, that conversion is a wrong one. the plug will not match up.

you could have just gotten a generic nissan one for under $20.

What do you mean generic? Does the dealer sell a universal O2 sensor that will fit?

I bought mine from phase2motortrend for $90.It is the skinny type, three wire. Every store i went to carried the fat type.
