I know you can use the z32 and n60, but what about just the regular sr20det maf on the ca18? Im looking for something that possibly supports a little more hp without a retune instead of using my ka sohc maf.

i dont think there is much size difference. not that i have seen a sr20 anything in person, so i cant really say this from experience. i think the ka-e maf might be the same size or slightly larger? either way its probably not worth the trouble of finding one and shelling out the dough for it, however little that may be.

The KA-E and CA18 MAFS are similar enough in size that they are usually interchangeable. I believe the SR20 MAFS is bigger than the KA-E, and if used on the CA18 may cause problems. If a bigger MAFS is used with out compensating for it, the car will run lean. To compensate you can increase the fuel pressure. If the MAFS is a big enough increase, you can increase the injector size a proportional amount and get the same effect.

Regardless, you would want to use a SAFC to fine tune it.

Also, how much HP are you looking to make that you need to upgrade the MAFS?

I was actually just curious, because I had an sr maf laying around & had read somewhere that the ka-e maf cuts out at around 200hp(not even sure on this). So i assumed the sr maf would be just a bit closer to where im at power wise.

I've compared a KA24E MAF that I run to an SR one on a buddy's car. They are identical. In fact, I sold him my spare KA24E one and it popped right in. He has been running it for over a year now.

12psi on a T25G, with occasional 14-15psi spikes (on cold nights) and I have never once hit boost cut. I should be well over the 200whp mark with my setup (well over meaining 10-15hp).

sohc mafs is a tiny bit bigger in diameter then ca.

sr and sohc are supposed to be the same, they are used all the time in sr swaps, since most swaps dont come with them.

if you really want to get tehnical about it, the mafs are all pretty much the same across the 3, its the aluminum housing thats different

Learn something new every day! Regardless, I don' t believe the MAFS maxes out at 200hp.

...and now we know, and knowledge is power!

z32 maf is the only way to go if you are upgrading. unless you go with a speed density, MAP, or alternative. the hot wire maf is pretty terrible.

Yea I'm fighting that right now with my new S13. The ECU doesn't throw any codes, but the car hesitates. I know I've got a vac leak somewhere, but I can't find it.

spray everything with carb cleaner. ehen you hear the engine rev up or sputter you found your vacuum leak.

I know but I'm fighting a coolant leak right now, and then on to that. I'll probably just replace all the vac lines when I take the motor out of it, but it's DOHC KA and those lines behind the head are pain to get to.
