okay... i searched the thread and couldnt seem to find any sort of classifieds for the sr20det forum like they have on the rb forum. i apologize if this is covered else where and i didnt find it but! i was wondering if anyone knew or has dealt with, a reputable online store for a s13 redtop sr20det long block (you know, no sensors manifolds, alternator, p/s pump etc, just a good condition motor). ive googled and havent found much, just a bunch of sites from companies wanting to sell complete swaps or bad links. if some one here has any leads.... would you mind letting me know? thank you all so very much

It's pretty hard to find just the long block from companies as they usually get in motor sets and clips. You can try Venus Auto, The SR20 Store, and Heavy Throttle. You'll probably have the most luck with the first place I listed as they get random stuff in.

A lot of times, you can find someone parting out a motor in our classifieds section here. But you'll be hard pressed to find a long block I think. You might find just the motor with manifolds/turbo and no harness, ignitor, etc.

Since you're looking for a long block, I guess your motor took a crap on you? Why not just rebuild it? It'll be cheaper and better in the long run.

well actually the plan is to buy the block so that i can build it while the other is still going. that way when the time is right, i can just change them out, and replace manifold gaskets and a few other things. but yeah im only looking for a good condition head and block assembly. preferably one that could still be "turn-key" if my motor did die.

What I did was found a blown block and pieced an extra motor together. manifolds and all. If you do some looking, you can sometimes nab a block that has melted a piston for cheap. Granted, you'd have to possibly bore the cylinders out, but consider it a reason to upgrade.
