sr20 in fiero need help

im planning on putting one in my 86 fiero and was wondering what fwd transmission that uses a cable linkage will work with this motor? i'd like to use a spec v 6 speed but no clue if that will work. please help

I've heard of a Spec's 6spd being modified to fit an SR, but it'll take some fabrication (not than an SR'd Fiero isn't a big project to begin with).

No room for a shift rod? IIRC there aren't any SR's that come with a cable shifter stock.

are there any fwd trans that would bolt to it with the cable? like in older model sentras?

That's a negative my friend. Older sentras use shift rods. No nissan fwd cars that I know of use cables.

I've only worked extensively on one FWD, so someone explain the differences in shift rods and cables.

you can probably use an sr20ve 20v trans.
its also a 6speed.
