so I have a tiny slit in my front cover, small enough to dump a good deal of oil on my first startup of the SR. i tried using a metal epoxy and it didnt hold, and i also tried some high strengh liquid gasket to seal it up, but its leaking again. i think the cover is pressurized, right? so it probably just blew out the liquid gasket. ive heard i have 2 options, either buy a new cover or have the hole welded/patched. im not sure how easy its going to be to remove the cover, i heard the design makes it a pain in the a--. has anyone removed the cover? or does anyone have any tips for a quicker fix?thanks

dont try to quick fix, do it the right way the 1st time or you may end up regretting it later. if you did the sr swap, it should be nothing to you

uh so wait, where's the slit you're talking about? I don't recall having a slit in my front cover when I took mine off. If you've got something like that, you might just want to get it welded if the engine's already in the car, or replace it if the engine is outside the car.

reason I'm saying that is because to get the front cover off, you need to take off the upper oil pan and quite a bit of other stuff at the bottom of the engine which makes it quite a chore.

What!? You shouldn't have any "holes" in the front cover. The only time I've seen that is when the tensioner loses it's nuts and the timing chain bacame a chainsaw. That doesn't sound like a normal thing.
