Alright, I am doing some research on swapping a SR20 redtop into a 92 240. I think I have just about gotten the answers I am looking for, but one. When you swap it in, there are some differences with the guages, like I don't think redline on the SR20 is the same as the KA24. Is there a gauge conversion or something you can get, or just need new faceplates?

good question, also what are the nesscary gauges needed for the SR? ie, boost, oil pressure, etc?

I would assume anything used to monitor your engine and make sure everything is good would be quite useful...Oil pressure, temp, boost, fuel pressure, tach, speedo, hell put a gauge for coolant level and temp.

I just love the fact that after 10+ views, no one else has even bothered to put in any opinion.

I do know that in a lot of cases, a full front clip comes with the gauge bezel, so that could have been something that someone could have posted.

No one did though, so oh well. How about just for buying a block, no gauge bezel or anything. No one knows? So everyone is just going by what the ol' KA24 guages say? No one knows what the red line on a SR would be?

Oh, and don't flame, because I did search.

The gauge cluster from the 240sx will be sufficient, just remember that the SR has a slightly higher redline (7500 rpm) compared to that of the KAs.

Useful gauges you might look into purchasing are a boost gauge (I'm running an Autometer Vacuum/ boost gauge) and possibly even water temperature.

the tach will only work if you have the ka24de gauge cluster the SOHC one will not read the tach signal.....now there is a way to make it work but i cant figure it out for the life of me, my technical wiring skills are not up to par i guess!

Do you know if you can get faceplates custom made to reflect the difference? I know I wouldn 't want to have to remember that in the middle of thinking of 20 other things. I just go by what the tach says.

You can always use the SR cluster, but the speedo will be in km (goes to 180km/h i think. If i remember correctly, when my friend did a swap a while back he said that you can put a resistor in to make it read Mph. this way your cluster can go up to 180mph. Please someone confirm or wether or not this is true since i am not 100% sure. You can always search for it.

I did search for it.

So everyone with SR20DET engines in their vehicle just goes with the KA guages? They don't worry about the differences in redline, or anything of the such?

I don't worry about the difference, since I try not to rev past 7k anyways. I have the ka24de gauges with the HUD, and I have a feeling that you can find gauge plates that show a different redline mark if you really wanted it.
