I heard that the SR20 downpipe mates up to the stock KA downpipe location.. so I was wondering since I plan on going turbo, could I install the SR20 downpipe now to my stock KA exhaust manifold? That way Ive basically got a FULL exhaust minus the actual exhaust manifold itself? Ive got a 3" catback already installed.

This way when I finish piecing together my turbo kit, I can just get a turbo dumptube that mates to the SR downpipe. Let me know, maybe im compeletely off track =/

maybe the flanges are different since Im sure the stock exhaust manifold isnt 3", i dunno, any help would be awesome, thanks guys.

nope... It doesn't... I had my 3'' exhaust put on recently and I couldn't use my SR downipe.. the flanges are completely different.. this is for the KA24DE. So they cut the stock ka downpipe before the cat and welded a piece on so i would fit up to the rest of my exhaust.

well I have heard that works, I have never looked at an s14 KA's header before.. but my SR downpipe makes a triangular bolt pattern.. If the header has a triangular bolt pattern, it will probably work.

it will work if you are using a s14 header/elbow pipe. that is the combination that i am using on my girl's car.

For real... I just spend 123 dollars at the exhaust shop for them to make a custom downpipe to fit the rest of my 3in exhaust... not to mention it was 1/2 the stock downpipe = ****ty. So the exhaust elbow from a 14 will fit on a 13 then making it able to bolt up an sr exhaust.. yippie!?

first...sr exhuast and ka exhuast are the same.

we were talking about using a s14 header and using a sr downpipe to connect the s14 header to the s13 cat.

240DRFT, Tiger is from japan and probably has not spent much time with the KA. So, something so blatant to us is not necessarily known to her.

The s14 header should bolt right up to an s13 motor just fine. it is the same motor and same chassis. The only changes from the s13 and s14 motors was the milder cams used in the s14, the change from external to internal coil distributor, the ECU tune, removal of the AIV on the S14 and the addition of a 2nd O2 sensor.

What "elbow pipe"?

I thought it goes, Exhaust Manifold-Downpipe-Cat ?

So is it confirmed that the SR Downpipe with mate up directly with a stock KA Exhaust Manifold?

i think the answer is probably, since no one has actually tried. and note that the header has to be a s14 header.

Elbow pipe is how they refer to the little piece of pipe they use to hook up with the downpipe. It all uses the same 3 bolt flange.

Yea, from way back in the day. I've known Chris Kelley since high school. He has always been there for me when I needed him so I have to give them some props.

so if Ive get a s14 exhaust manifold, do i need to make sure it has that "elbow pipe" with it, or is the "elbow pipe" just the downpipe, im kinda confused because I thought after the exhaust manifold itself, it just bolts to the downpipe without a lil "pipe" inbetween.

maybe a picture woud help, im we-todd-ed =/

What it sounds like is that if you follow the exhaust manifold from the head down past the runners the first set of bolts/nuts you get to is where you attach the downpipe. Am I right or what?

the elbow pipe is used if your running a turbowhich comes from the exhaust side of the turbo and connect to the downpipe , but since you are running all motor right now it isnt needed

ooh, from your original post I thought u meant you have to use both the header and "elbow pipe" not just one or the other for whichever application(na/fi). So on your gf's car is she running an SR downpipe from the stock s14 exhaust manifold, or is she KA-T?

A stock s14 exhaust manifold will bolt up to a sr downpipe. My buddy just did it on his s14
