^^ I hope your joking, theres probably more registered SR powered 240sx in california than and other state.

Basically you need to find the "right" shop.

I'm probably going to touch on some nerves here, but whatever...

I don't know how CA is, but in NM we have those quickie air-care stations: basically a drive-through car bay w/two garage doors, $16.99 for state-cerd'd testing, two-speed RPM testing(very similar to CA's requirements). Stop on a weekend, towards closing, and pay to have it tested(even if you know it will fail). When they ask you how bad you need it to pass, take the hint. If not, a re-test is usally cheaper. They [usually] rotate employees from location to location, so don't count on the same person being there on more than one visit.

You will need the bellhousing off of an SR transmission in order for it to work.

if you have AAA just go into your local center and tell them you need a temporary registration card. Just bring in a copy of the previous registration or pink slip so they can get the info needed. I've been riding around with one since december and it doesn't expire till the end of feb.

only if you're caught. Just get the temp registration. If they ask any questions just say you just bought the car and you need to get it smogged.

what do you mean by easier? smog wise? well you'd have to see which kits are CARB legal and such. If you do swap and are concerned about getting your hood popped, just get a blacktop. Looks relatively stock to the untrained eye.

There is no completely legal way to smog the SR20DET in California. Some people have found way to bend the LAW, the SR20DET was never imported to the US if you go to the DOT web site and look up authorized JDM engines for import you will see the SR20DET RWD motor is in the BAND< not legal for import listing....

Search... I'm getting very very tired of this cookie cutter thread that has been brought up at least 200 - 300 times.
