I am working on this swap first with an N/A engine using a 16VE head.

As far as bolting onto a DET you will have issues due to the differences in manifolds, etc.

I posted a good bit of info on this somewhere not long ago. Might have been one of those other forums.

You will have to run an external oil supply to the vvl soliniods. Try to find a post(s) by my same name on freshalloy...I think that is where it was. About 1-2 weeks ago we had a pretty goo discussion about it. Also for real good info search on sr20forum.com. They are mostly a fwd forum and are 1-2 guys that have at least posted a decent amount of info.

I hope by bringing this up you know that you are more than likely going to have to mod/beat in your firewall due to clearance.

For turbo or NA? If turbo why not just use a modded GTiR ITB mani. It should bolt up and with the low port head clear the hood.

that might work....... what do you mean "modded".... it is for boost.... have a sr20det... just looking for something fun...want to get a used (decent condition) head gasget from a sr20ve... think i might try to buy one tomorrow of of sr20forum or something like that... plus i am going to use a summit piece to activate the cams.... so don't have to worry about the ecu..

MSD works alot better and is easier, you just put a pill in there for when the low / high cam feature to ACTIVATE

and for the headgasket a SR20 headgasket is the same for the fwd'swhether is a DE, DE-T, or a VE.

What hole are you talking about?

I would check the classifieds on sr20forums.com. They are on there a pretty good bit.

from what i have researched you have to plug a hole in the block... something about a oil feed to the head that doesn't line up.. i am also thinking about using the sr20det CAS instead of the distributar so i can use the aem plug and play and have more room between the engine and the firewall

It's the oil feed from the block to the VVL solenoid that isn't on the D heads. Thats why you have to tap the block for a oil pressure line to the solenoids.

Oh and I'd just cut a hole in the firewall for the CAS as you will need to time it and adjust the timing.

i was thinking about using the fast engine management.. so i would not be using any stock sensors (exept the cam activator ones).. thos just make a block off plate on the distributor hole..

You will still need to make room for the solenoids. They stick out a good way.
