it can be a few things...yer BOV is mainly the cause of this problem..if your motor is not getting proper air to fuel mixture becasue of either venting or poor air circulation caused by yer BOV then you will get back fires all the time...if you straight piped yer cat then this will also add to the problem

Mine backfires all the time due to the atmospheric bov. What happens to my understanding (correct me if i am wrong) is that when the air inters the maf the ecu reads that number and there fore sends that much fuel to the injectors and when the bov acts is releases that air that was already read through the maf and there fore again there is too much fuel for the system and loads the system up. Hince the backfiring. It will also stall if you blow at low speeds and then disingage the clutch. Mine does anyways. lol. Hope that helps

venting on a stock BOV is not recommended as you will get the whole back firing issue...there was a topic somewhere on this board that talked about which aftermarket to use that will cause the LEAST amount of problems

If you put an AFC on there or any fuel management you can fix this. I had the HKS ssqv on mine and it never stalled.

Do you know which one it is??? I am getting the greddy type s because I can revent it but I rather have one that causes the least amount of problems.

I have a turbonectic dump valve that recirculates back into the intake, and mine pops 1 or 2 times between each shift. The guy who I recently bought the car from from used a 1990 sohc maf sensor with the red ecu.Could that be causing the car to run to rich?I'm still getting around 18-20 mpg.

A perfectly stock sr w/ an exhaust would backfire. Sure, a BOV or anything else that causes the computer to dump extra fuel into the motor will increase it, but not cause all of it. The motor runs richer than it needs to from the factory...it's a safety precaution.

my car backfires occasionally, but that's due to some spark plugs that need to be changed out. The MAF isn't the issue on that problem I believe.

Did you buy that vert from a nissan mechanic in Roanoke, VA?

yep! Please don't give me any bad news! The car has a couple of problems, like the waterpump pulley is bent and chewing up the belt, the car needs a new 02 sensor which is why i think it runs rich, and most of all the entire interior being total spent, due to a stupid dog running around in my car!Damn, I hate dogs!I totally love it though!Oh yeah! The stereo sucks too!Even with my $550 Pioneer headunit and all new speakers!

nah. he's a good mechanic. the only issues i've had are from the owners previous to him. one spilled tobacco juice all over the rear floor pan, and I can't get it out for the life of me.

The engine is in great condition, except for this small front main seal leak i need to fix.

I'd look around and read up before you buy the Greddy Type S. I have one and it leaks like mad, I have it tightened almost all the way down and it still does. I lost to a Supercharged mustang last night becuse I turned it up to 14psi and the bov started leaking, I had to run 10psi which wasnt enough. Don't let it happen to you :) Mine backfires a little bit, but no stalling or idle problems.

Sucks that your type S leaks. I just bought one but haven't installed it yet. I hope this doesn't happen to me....

My HKS SQV doesn't have any problems at all!And It's a unique sound compared to the SSQV and the Type-S!It's more of a large rushing air sound with a flutter!
