I've searched(answered a cpl questions), Ive read the Faq etc... but if I search to specific it gives me every single post with the search words(allot of posts to look through), if im not specific enough I get even more posts .

I'm only able to find 89-90 240sx 5sp hatchbacks locally(TX). I wanted to get a 91-93 but cant find any. I was told a sr20 was a straight bolt-in into a 91-93. But since the 89-90 240sx's were sohc they had a smaller/shorter driveshaft... my questions is what is needed to make a sr20 fit into a 89-90 that is different from a 91-93. Thank you for your help. Dont give to bad of a hard time, im sure this has been asked but I am unable to find it.

driveshaft is the same, u need to get ps lines from a newer 91+ s13 if u want ps, and a ac comp from the same car. other than that its a bolt on for lack of better words

You will also need a new gauge cluster for the tach to work since the 89-90 was only a sohc. I think you can keep your gauge cluster and just swap out the tach assembly for one from a 91+

I would use the wiring harness and ecu from the sr20 swap correct? Will it reach everything since it was originally intended for rhd? What engine mounts will I use, sr20 or the 89-90? Thanks for your help.

get Nismo mounts, the 89-90 ones will most likely be shot, and the stock SR ones could be questionable.

You will have to extend the MAFS, O2 sensor, AC, PS and Ignitor wiring to make it reach the USDM drivers side. You also have to cut, switch and extend the white dash plug.

BTW, where in Tx are you located? I am in CS...

I'm located in Austin. Would I have to do all the wiring if I were to go with a 91-93 240sx? I'm kind of new at this and am trying to make this a semi-simple learning experience... I understand the mechanics of installing an engine i'm just a little bit iffy of all this wire cutting, lengthening etc...

as long as you know how to solder and shrink wrap stuff it is easy as pie. I could do it for you, but I would charge you like $125 ($100 for actually doing it $25 for wire, solder, flux, shrink wrap and shipping back to you) :D

BTW: there are lots of guys in Austin that have been through the SR swap process. For the love of god, whatever you do, do not go to Pro-Tech. they will ream you in the butt with with no lube...

....and that hurts alot. Actually I would be happy to help you out, and my friend has done first hand the lengthening of the wiring harness. So that wouldn't really be a problem.

Go ahead and get ahold of an 89, and it'd be a piece of cake to take it from there. You arn't by chance that friend of Juniors are ya? Chris

240-Key: Thanks for the help, Ill try to do it myself, but if I fail ill remember to take you up on that offer. The only reason I would talk to Pro-Tech or another shop would be for the sr20 clip/swap.

Sambra: I'm guessing no since I dont know who junior is. And ill remember your name if I need someone to help me out and make sure I dont screw up to bad.

Now I just need to find a 89-90 5sp fastback that isnt 250+ miles away... Thanks for your help guys.

You don't need an S13a compressor, use the SR compressor.
