the sr has the same rev-limiter as the ka, 4th and 5th gear. so its the same 180kph/115mph

Well, it's not the rev-limiter that causes the speed cut. The ECU will pull fuel when the speed sensor sees 115.

Im gonna take a wild stab and say that he wanted to know the engines top speed. I've seen a video on 1 hitting 170+

yea i saw that too, sweet video. but it was highly modified. so there you go, unless you get rid of the ecu fuel cut off, 115, or like morph was sayin 170+

170 sounds like they changed the gearing. on stock gearing and everything i think that sr are gear limitied to 150 or something around there. 170 is a lil high and might require a gear change of some kind either in the diff, bigger wheels or transmission.

With 235/45/17 tires and a 7600rpm redline, the theoretical top speed for a 240 is 184.78mph - if my gearing info is correct which I'm 99.3% sure it is (5th=0.759 and final=4.083).

ding, ding - we have a winner. There are several online calculators to determine the top speed of the car.

Plus it doesn't take as much power as one might think. A friend of mine has a bonestock 350z (287hp) and as gone over 160mph in it. Sure your sr would need some mods but not as much as one might think.

so with gearing it can it 185...what kind of power would you think the car would need to hit 185? Also a buddy of mine says his 6spd trans am ws6 can hit 180 w/o a limiter. Is the 240 gearing really that much wider to be able to reach that speed in 5th?

Stock gearing w/ those tires is 185. I know nothing about the gearing of a ws6 so I cannot comment. As for max top-end to power ratio in a 240, I have no idea since I don't drive that fast.

stock gearing and stock 195/60/15 tires gives a 174mph @ 7500rpm. Ive personally had mine up to 160 before a coupler blew a hole in it and still had enough rpm to go.

I believe the speed limiter is at 120-125. I hit mine the other night. it was more than my Ka did!

ive taken mine up to about 130 a few times with the s13 blacktop, then the speed limiter kicks in. theres a spot near me on the highway thats always empty and clearly visble if there are any cops around. when it completely clear, the sr gets me to top out quick

Yea mine usually hits the speed limiter at 130 cause my speedo goes to the bottom of the cluster way after 115. Kinda scary at first when you hit it lol

i remember having my HUD and trying to top the car out. The HUD stopped at 125mph but the car kept on pulling. It pissed me off since the digital stops at such a low speed untill i took a Silvia Speedo and converted it to 180mph. It reads within 1 mph of a cop speed trap. Gauge read 60 when my ticket of going 59.6 in a 40 said so.

I remember less than a year ago someone had their S13 up over 170mph at an airstrip with a mildly modded s13 SR (less than 300whp).

its definitly doable. I went 160 using the T25 then a coupler blew out. Car was still pulling untill the coupler blew.
