I got a FMIC kit coming in the mail so I went to pep boys and picked up a little battery so i can drill the hole in the tray for piping. I hooked up the battery and it wouldnt crank then i realized the amps were too low. I returned the battery and put my original battery back in. Now my car cranks and it feels like its about to start but it just wont. I still hear my fuel pump turning on so im sure i have fuel and my plugs are a little dirty but not completely fouled. Any suggestions? Car ran fine before all this.

You say little battery as in half the size of normal? what are the cranking amps of this particular battery? Also when you took your battery out where did you set your battery at and on top of and for how long? Do you have a multi tester to see what the volts register at on both batteries?

Ok so I tried new plugs I bought brand new NGK BKR6E's gapped them to .028 and still wouldnt start. I also tried jumping it and it wouldnt spark. I took a plug out and stuck it in the ignitor and had a friend crank the motor while i looked at it and i didnt see any sign of a spark from the plug, I dont know if I'm supposed to or not but I didnt. Do you think it could be something like the coil pack or Ignitor chip or even an ignitor? if it is one of those things I am basicly screwed because I have to drive this car from NY to Chicago on the 26th for college. Any suggestions?

Did you set the plug against something metal to ground it and then crank it? Cuz that's the only way you're gonna see spark from the plug.

If so, work backwards from the plug and see where the power is getting cut off at.

Thats what I would suggest to. Try another coil. Wait a sec. What ignition setup do you use? The sr or the ka. Basically if you use the ka you use one coil and 4 for sr. You know. If its the sr more than likely it would be the ign. chip but not definitly. You'll just have to go down the line. It will be something simple, but maybe expensive. I wonder if you shorted something out switching batts around. Such as the ign. chip.

Go on ebay or the buy/sell/trade sections and ask for a 95-96 infinite Q45. Iv'e seen people post on the parts interchangability on different forums about the 95 and 96 Q45. You can find them cheaper.

I got it off from an sr20 powered fastback at the junkyards I found a while back. Tested on my car and still works. It's the plug and play ignitor chip which is from the 95+ q45 though.
