So i got JWT ecu for 50#msd's and z32 mafs. Now that i got it in the car, it has a rough idle. (kinda sounds like a WRX) Also, when ever its under a light load such as taking off from a stop light or light highway crusing, it will have a slight hesitation every once in a while at low rpms. The injectors are brand new and the maf was tested before intallation on my car. One delima that might be the culprit is on the pig tail of the z32, there is an orange wire and a solid black wire. Im getting different input on what to do with these. Should I solder them together and then ground them through the ecu, or should one be grounded through the ecu and one a chassis ground. And if so, which ones? Thanks in advance. Also it seems as though it dosent pull as hard as it used to with the stock setup.

Hey,

You need to ground both blacks to the harness and just clip the orange, dont even bother with it.

If the car still runs poorly let me know.

Do you know the exact injectors you have?

I have the 50# MSD injectors. I recieved them from JGY. I spoke to JWT on the issue and they said that the orange and black wire should be grounded to the ECU, and none to the chassis. Im so confused. I dont have a wideband as of yet but a friend of mine that does tuning seems to think that the bogging that im experiencing is due to lean spots. One thing that i forgot to mention is Im only running the stock FPR. But from doing a little searching it seems that that would make the car rum extremely rich. Could timing be an issue? I just dont know what could have changed so dramaticly. I mean, i spent so much money to get a tuned ECU and not have to run a SAFC. I dont want to even hook up the AFC because it might only mask the actual problem. Please any help would be greatly apprieciated

As long as there arnt mechanical or electrical issues I would assume it is in the tune as well. I dont want to see you hook up the AFC either but it may help you to monitor your sensors and identify anything odd. If its in the tune that is unfortunate since i imagine you forked out some decent change for it. If you run through the car diagnostics wise and still have no luck i can give you something to try in your ECU to help narrow things down.

Well i hooked up the AFC and Im a little frusterated. I had to add fuel every where. 20% here 18% there, everywhere. WHY? I might as well kept the stock ECU in there. At least I know that I wasnt running lean then. Any ways I still dont have a wideband so untill then Im just going to park the car. Right now Im not a big fan of JWT, I mean right now w/ the money that I spent on their ECU and the cost of the SAFC, I could have went full stand alone. What device are you talking about and what will it do?

Lol thats why I offer free updates on the same setup because mail order tunes sometimes dont cut it the first time around. I was going to give you one of my tunes for 50# inj and a z32 to see if it was better. The price of the best name rom tunes are unbelievable for a non updateable mail order tune...i just dont get it. When I first started tuning ECU's years ago it was because I couldn't afford any management...then once a ROM tune proved to be much more than a cheap alternative and could actually well support heavily modified setups, people started charging an arm and a leg. To me that defeats the purpose doesnt it? Sorry to go off on another topic but I see this all the time and it gets a little frustrating seeing people spend alot of money on something that isnt working properly.

The only reason I even bought the AFC is because I got a killer deal on it and all I wanted to do is use it for the knock sensor. I just glad I had it because I wouldnt ever be able to fix the problem. (or some what) it just doesnt have enough points of correction to my liking. Just out of curiosity, how much is your tune? I might be willing to possibly sell my JWT if I could get a properly tuned ECU. Oh yea, also when I talked to JWT they told me that a SAFC hooked up to their ECU's, even set to zero, would cause the air/fuel ratios to be off. Im calling BS on that because w/out it I would have already blown my SR. I pulled my brand new plugs to check them and they show slight sighns of detonation.

Yeah I dont know about that one, that sounds like they are trying to take u on a ride. If you see tiny metalic splaters on the plugs, that usualy indicates a preignition/detonation condition. My tune is $260 with out a rescale for more boost but in your case i would be willing to give you it to try out, just to see if we can get it right. If all turns out well then you can purchase it.
