Alright, I recently bought a 89 240sx coupe with an sr20det swap. It was running for a while, and then one day it just wouldn't start.

I live in a cold climate during the winter and i've been given the suggestion that the freezing temps may have drained the battery.

When I try to start the car, I hear absolutely nothing. When I put the key in so far as to turn the electrics on without starting the car itself, I hear a noise which sounds like a fan spinning. The lights on the dash work, the battery indicator is not on. The headlights and things seem to work also.

I have not tried to boost it yet as I don't have long enough cables, but I will do it as soon as I can. My main question is, does this sound like a battery problem, or something else?

(I'm by no means a mechanic so please go easy on me )

Yes, doesn't take much energy to get the lights and dash to work.Trying to start the car drains a lot of energy from the battery. So just go ahead and jump start it when you get the cables, or better replace the battery
