So I am about to go on a trip to Miami and wanted to change my oil.

I drained all oil but wanted to make sure that I got all of it so I would have completely fresh oil. So with the drain plug on the oil pan open, I started the car to let the pump push all the oil out. I went inside really quick and came back out and my car had shut off. I can't get the car to start now.

I tried jumping the car and it won't turn over. I checked all the fuses and they're good. IDK

You My friend are a retard.

Now does the engine turn over or do you just hear a click?

If you just hear a click and the engine does not turn over, Then congradulation you now have a $2,500 paper weight

What do you mean paper weight?

I know an engine needs oil to run, just like gasoline. But I figured there would be a little oil left, even if I tried to get everything out.

dude, comeon man... what's there to help..i mean you drained not a little but ALL the damn oil out and to top that off you cranked it up and then WENT INSIDE!!...what were you thinking?!?!?!.. the maximum amount of oil you could have possibly gotten out by pulling that stunt was maybe an 1/8-1/4 of a quart of oil..(hardly worth it).. if you werent that familiar with the cause an effect of what would happen then you prob should have done some research my friend..

This guy almost sounds like a troll, but im gonna post a response anyway just in case.

I'll make it simple

OP oil is needed in the engine to keep the engine cool and lubricate the moving parts.Inbetween the bearings and the crankshft there is a kinda a tiny tiny space that get filled with pressureized oil that the rods and main journals sit on, the bearing never make contact with the the crank, the the cranksft is somewhat floating.

Well when you drained out the oil, the crankshaft has nothing to keep it floating so it made contact with the bearings, scarred it up grabed the bearing and wedged it self inside the journal causing it not to turn over, and or welding a piston to the cylinder wall.

But usually this only happens when driving for a long time like that and not at idle.

I had a friend with a bad oil pump in his SR and drove it around for like 10 mins and it still ran just the cams squeaked really loud.

which kinda leads me to belive you are a troll

haha I was just trolling through. My SR is fine and chock full of oil.

Figured I would add in some excitement and humor to my day :D There was a similar thread a while back about a SRT-4 owner that couldn't get his drain plug off, so he took off his oil filter, turned on his car, and "let the oil spill out" the side of the motor.

What are these kids thinking? kekeke
