nice headline huh?well i found out why my turbo sounds so good.

blowby...

13psi with some leaky rings on cyl 4 makes for a nice wssssst noise coming out the breather filter. cyl 1 155cyl 2 163cyl 3 162cyl 4 95

still fast and just a little bit of rough idle. the guy i got it from said the turbo has been loud like that for about a year. it just might stay that way till i have the money to rering her. i think i can rering it in the car in one day. thats with all my tools, in my own bay, with my own lift. what do you guys think?

compression leaking past the rings is called blow down

Try puting a cap full of actual dyno bone oil down in cyl #4. Let it sit over night, longer if possible. It will smoke when you start it but in many cases this can help re-seat the rings.

the other option scares many people but i have done it personal and it has worked.

run 1qt 2cycle engine oil in a full tank of gas. iirc this is about a 100:1 mixture, as the oil burns it lubricates, this is good for every type of motor, tho horrible for emissions. Best of luck.

dyno bone oil? i put a little bit of motor oil down there for the wet compression test. by the way with oil in the cyl it pulled a 120 on no 4. what is dyno bone oil? is that a reference to conventional oil aka dino oil?

the questino is...do i just get some se-r rings and slap them in as fast as i can on a saturday or buy bearings, t-chain, tensioners, guides, valve stem seals, etc. heck i could swing the head by my father in law for a quick port+polish? i am thinking that a gasket set, rings, and rod bearings(hope the mains are ok) could be less than $400. anyone selling pistons with rings for cheap(stock bore size)? j/k
