Ok so I started driving my car couple days ago after installing cams, bigger trubo etc etc. The first day it ran fine. The second day I was just driving along in 5th gear at 50ish and the next thing i know the engine goes in safe mode and i cant rev past 2500 . I limp the car to my friends house thats close by and disconnect the mafs and put it back on and it works fine. Drove it for 10 minute to get home with no problem . The next day it started up but did that safe mode thing again. I moved the mafs wires around and depending on the position of the wires it would or would not work. This happened to me when I first got the engine running with the stock mafs and plug. Since I thought it would be too coincidental for it to be the mafs plug on the old and the new I cut out the section of wire that I originally added to lengthen it thinking it was a problem with the wiring. I used regular non shielded copper wire this time maybe about 16 gauge and it seemed to work fine. I bought some more shielded wire and replaced the regular copper wire that I had just put in. The engine would rev to 1500 then immediately drop to 500 then stall. I put the regular copper non shielded wire back in (the one that made the engine seem to run fine) and it did the same thing (rev to 1500 then drop to 500 then stall). I unplugged the mafs and the engine would let me rev freely and didnt go into safe mode. I revved it to 3000 with no problem. It even almost sounded fine. I'm just really confused I didn't think the engine would do that without the mafs hooked up. And then it makes me wonder if what I was doing with the wire made any change at all and I'm totally missing the problem. Unless I fixed one problem to discover another. Please help! Thanks in advance!
