Get a Ca18det and be happy (just thought I'd throw that in there) :P. As for mpg... dont make such a big deal about it. If you drive in boost all the time then you deal with the consequences. I dont care about mpg I just put gas in the car when it needs gas. If you really wanna know which motor to go with stop by the sr forums and stop by the rb forums and then do some research, then you cand decide from there.*COUGH* CA forum. peace

as the rule goes, if you cant afford the gas for boosting your motor, you shouldnt boost it. boosting = money + gas..

id go with the RB25 though, its less rev-worthy but in the long run it will be more powerful and the way the SR packages are going, at SOME places it may even be cheaper. The RB series is continually getting popular though. RB> SR anyday.. sorry loyal SR guys.

i boost all the time. i could have gone RB and stayed out of boost most of the time, and then i could afford gas, but then what's the point! hehe. also the RB in an unmodified S chassis sits very far forward, which is i think the weight distribution problem owners talk about. although with all that extra power in and out of boost thanks to 2 extra cylinders, i don't think your feet will complain .

Rb25 s13 drifting:http://www.s93799916.onlinehom...2.wmvI don't think he has any issues with this supposed weight inbalance. Here's what he has to say:"A lot of people on the net speculate and think the RB won't drift in the S13, well they're wrong. The car actually feels really neutral with the RB. I was expecting heavy understeer when I put the motor in, but I don't really notice any understeer at all. Good suspension set up can help overcome understeer. I indeed did the swap myself. I did all the work on the car, from body and paint work, to the motor swap, wiring, custom fabrication, etc, only thing I didn't do was the custom made drive shaft. I mounted the motor as low and far back as possible to the firewall so the weight distribution is better than using the R33 crossmember and mount method (which sits the motor too high and far forward). Some of the drifters in Japan complain of the front of the S13 with SR to be TOO light, and this causes understeer because there isn't enough weight over the front wheels for them to get good weight transfer for traction. As you can see in the video the RB has no problem drifting, I like it better than my old SR powered S13, can't beat the sound!"

i am expecting understeer with my swap but.. the very few people that have done the swap says that is feels about equal to when the KA was in there car so.. im expecting some neutral results.

thats a different story though.

the RB20 is a bit smaller/lighter/sits farther back than the RB25/RB26, as well as having the lighter FS5W71C transmission like the S13 cars. i don't consider the RB20 an option unless you just like the sound and/or want to be unique. it doesn't really posess(sp?) any distinct advantages over the SR20 in the performance areas. it's the same displacement (albeit with more cylinders for better powerband in most cases), heavier, makes basically the same stock power at a higher boost level, and still has the somewhat fragile S13 transmission. however, the I6 sound is killer . . .
