Well this is going on for a while but not as bad as lately...but here we go. this situation only happens around 80% throttle to WOT over 3500rpm. The motor will cut in and out of power. And when the cut is going in and out exhaust back fire is present...gets really bad now. Was trying to run a mach 1 mustang and I was never going to catch him...thats how bad it was. I had my safc tuned during the colder days and wondered if that might be a factor. My conclusion(haven't looked into yet)would be some sort of spark malfunction, seeing the backfire is consistent out of exhaust. Anyone else have a similar problem?

Replace your spark plugs with NGK BKR7E's ... gap to .32" - .28". Keep the gap as open as possible, sometimes people have to go down to .28" to get the misfiring to subside.

I had a simular problem. Do you have the Fuel Curve Turned up or down? I found that I was flooding the engine when it was cold cause I had turned the fuel curve up thinking it wasnt getting enough.

I turned mine down 4% and it hasnt done that backfire cut thing since.

I am looking at getting those plugs but the reason for the symptom was oil fouling plugs...its hella gay. My valve cover gasket is leaking oil onto plugs 1 2 3 Causing the misfiring and the horrible rich condition(wish I had a wideband...would have known sooner). Anyway taken care of for right now but where do I find a cover gasket? Anyone know!!!

Where do you get those plugs at? I have been to a couple parts stores and they neither carry them nor do they order them!

Well I am still having the same problem but not as bad. Have the gap set to .30 helped by being able to run high rpm before it starts it slightly again(over 6k). I still have to look into tuning, but I do still have a stock MAF...i am thinkin that could be a stumbling block, right?
